FAO’s Asia and the Pacific Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition reveals that the region is at serious risk of missing 2030 targets to end all forms of malnutrition—from hunger to obesity. Reduction in the number of hungry and malnourished people—including children—has come to a virtual standstill.

Additional highlights from this week’s Compact2025 News in Brief include:

  • The 2017-2018 ReSAKSS Annual Trends and Outlook Report examines the role of social protection for boosting growth and ending hunger in rural Africa.
  • Study including more than 150 countries reveals that addressing dietary composition and energy intake as part of food-based dietary guidelines could be a comprehensive strategy for achieving sustainable diets.
  • The Global Parliamentary Summit against Hunger and Malnutrition brought together key legislative players on October 29–30 in Madrid to advance political will to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 2.
