The 2019 Global Food Policy Report launches in Malawi and Bangladesh—two Compact2025 focal countries—highlight the importance of and options for revitalizing rural areas in each country. The Bangladesh launch event featured an address by Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, Minister of Agriculture and Compact2025 Leadership Council member.

Additional highlights from this week’s Compact2025 News in Brief include:

  • The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) initiative has released an updated version of its Technical Manual expanding the range of scales to measure food insecurity and helping analyze areas with limited or no humanitarian access.
  • A Microsoft and PwC report claims that using Artificial Intelligence for environmental applications could create more jobs, boost global GDP, and reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.
  • A blog post and video by IFPRI Senior Research Fellow Jef Leroy explore the confusion around stunting and explain why a singular focus on preventing it can miss key underlying causes.
